마티외 르 수르(Mathieu Le Sourd), 혹은 MAOTIK이라는 이름으로 활동하는 그는, 아트·사이언스·테크놀로지의 교차점에서 몰입형 환경, 인터랙티브 설치, 디지털 건축 조각, 그리고 오디오비주얼 퍼포먼스를 선보이는 프랑스 출신 디지털 아티스트다.
런던 예술대학교에서 디지털 미디어 프로덕션을 공부한 뒤, 바르셀로나의 폼페우 파브라 대학교(Pompeu Fabra University)에서 디지털 아트 석사 과정을 마쳤다.
그의 작업은 최근 몇 년간 세계 각지의 기관과 페스티벌에서 소개되며 국제적인 주목을 받아왔다. 뮤텍(Mutek), 소나(Sonar), 리우의 Oi Futuro, 아트 바젤, 프리즈 런던, FIAC 파리, 프라하의 시그널 페스티벌, BFI 런던, 린츠의 아르스 일렉트로니카(ARS Electronica), 도쿄의 미래관(Miraikan), 서울의 B39, 베를린의 푼크하우스(Funkhaus), 파리 필하모니 등 다수의 플랫폼에서 그의 작품 세계를 선보였다.
Mathieu Le Sourd, also known as MAOTIK, is a French digital artist focused on creating immersive environments, interactive installations, digital architectural sculptures, and audiovisual performances which play at the intersection of art, science, and technology. H
He studied Digital Media Production at the University of the Arts in London, he holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Arts from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.
Over the last few years, his work has been presented at international festivals and institutions worldwide, such as Mutek, Sonar, Oi Futuro in Rio, Art Basel, Frieze London, FIAC Paris, Signal Festival in Prague, the British Film Institute in London, ARS Electronica in Linz, Miraikan Science Museum in Tokyo, B39 in Seoul, Funkhaus in Berlin or Philharmonie in Paris.
