Jess Mountfield

제스는 애니메이터이자 일러스트레이터로, 영화부터 태피스트리까지 폭넓은 작업을 선보이고 있습니다. 작업에 사용할 흥미로운 종이와 재료를 모으는 것을 즐기며, 그 컬렉션은 지금도 계속 늘어나고 있습니다.

터키, 짐바브웨, 스리랑카, 태국, 독일 등 여러 나라에서 성장한 제스는 현재 런던을 기반으로 활동하고 있습니다. 애니메이션과 인류학을 전공한 그는 작품을 통해 인물, 색채, 공간의 관계를 탐구합니다. 지금까지 영화, 출판, 설치작업 등 다양한 형식의 프로젝트를 진행했으며, 핀란드의 미술관부터 런던의 역사적인 등대에 이르기까지 여러 장소에서 작품을 선보였습니다.

그의 애니메이션은 전 세계 50여 개 영화제에서 상영되었으며, 로열 텔레비전 소사이어티의 ‘Best Short Form’과 런던 국제 애니메이션 페스티벌의 ‘Best Commissioned Film’을 포함해 여러 상을 수상했습니다. 또한 BBC, FX, MTV, Adult Swim, ICA, Flying Eye, TED-Ed 등 다양한 클라이언트와 협업해 왔습니다.

Jess Mountfield is an animator and illustrator who loves designing everything from films to tapestries, and collecting an ever expanding supply of interesting paper and materials to use in her work.

She grew up in Turkey, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Germany, and has now made London her home. With degrees in animation and anthropology, she loves exploring character, colour, and place in her work. She has worked across a range of mediums and formats, including film, publishing and installation - from a Finnish museum to a historic London lighthouse.

Her films have screened in over 50 festivals internationally, and she has won awards for her animation work including Best Short Form from the Royal Television Society, and Best Commissioned Film from the London International Animation Festival. Additionally, she has worked with BBC, FX, MTV, Adult Swim, ICA, Flying Eye and Ted ED.
