Building Exterior
For the renewal of Young Plaza, Lotte was looking for an illustrator to create artwork decorating the exterior of a large shopping mall in Myeongdong, Seoul. They thought Simon Landrein would be the perfect fit, and the collaboration began through Pocko.
롯데 영플라자의 리뉴얼을 맞아, 명동 대형 쇼핑몰 외관을 장식할 일러스트레이터를 찾던 롯데는 시몬 란드랭(Simon Landrein)이 이 프로젝트에 가장 잘 맞는 아티스트라고 판단했고, 포코를 통해 협업이 시작되었습니다.
불과 한 달도 되지 않는 짧은 기간 동안, 롯데 디자인팀과 시몬, 그리고 포코는 수차례 아이디어를 주고받으며 완성도 높은 방향을 함께 만들어갔습니다. 시몬의 탁월한 창의력과 시차를 뛰어넘는 매끄러운 협업 덕분에, 러프 스케치부터 최종 작업까지 모든 과정이 안정감 있게 이어졌습니다.
In less than a month, the Lotte design team, Simon, and Pocko exchanged ideas many times, working together to shape a highly polished direction. Thanks to Simon’s outstanding creativity and smooth collaboration across time zones,
every stage from rough sketches to the final work unfolded with consistency
and confidence.
시몬의 일러스트레이션은 2025년 3월 임시 휴점에 들어간 영플라자의 새로운 시작을 상징합니다. 공사 현장을 재치 있게 풀어낸 이 작품은, 잠시 멈춘 시간 속에서도 영플라자의 활기를 기억하게 하고 다시 만날 그날을 기대하게 만듭니다.
Simon's illustration beautifully symbolizes the rebirth of Young Plaza, which temporarily closed in March 2025. He has depicted the construction work with his humor, so that even during the quiet period of the Plaza, people will remember its excitement and look forward to the next time they visit.
